Surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, the parish of the Mosteiros, located northwest of the island of São Miguel presents four large islets. It’s name, Mosteiros, came from the fact that the largest islet is similar in form to the “micaelense” churches.

Mosteiros is an ideal place for those who like to enjoy coast and sea, or for bathing, fishing, diving, dolphin and whale watching. It has a bathing area between "Caneiros" surrounded by volcanic rocks, sought after tidal pools of "sea and algae" and a beach of dark sand where two streams flow from the hills to the east, generically called “Cumeeiras”, that are part of the volcano of “Sete Cidades”, as well as several pedestrian paths for hiking and walking.
